Navy clinches Masters’ Championship title at 71st Life Saving Games - 2022
Sri Lanka Navy lifesavers won the Masters’ Championship title at the 71st Life Saving Games - 2022 held on 23rd and 24th December 2022. The championship, held at Sri Lanka Police Aquatic Sports Pool and Mount Lavinia Beach, was organized by the Sri Lanka Life Saving Association.
The tournament consisted of Pool and Beach events which were participated by some of the top lifesavers from sports clubs across from the island, including Tri-Services, Police and Department of Civil Security. Representing the Sri Lanka Navy 41 lifesavers took part in the tournament.
Accordingly, Chief Petty Officer MS Pushpakumara, Chief Petty Officer SAG Senevirathne, Petty Officer KMDS Bandara, Petty Officer DMA Dissanayake, Petty Officer AGST Kumara, Petty Officer RASK Ranathunga, Leading Infantryman DMAP Dissanayake, Leading Seaman PUS Palihawadana, Leading Seaman HPA Kumara, Leading Seaman BGBN Bandara, Leading Seaman SMHP Subhasinghe, Leading Seaman AGWKN Sampath, Leading Seaman WGP Kumara, Leading Seaman KGL Kumara, Leading Seaman HPTS Jayathilake and Able Seaman LMN Priyadarshana exhibited their lifesaving skills in 9 events held at the Police Aquatic Sports Pool, Narahenpita and 10 events conducted at Mount Lavinia Beach.
Meanwhile the Navy won the Masters’ Championship in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020/21 and clinched the title for the fifth time, continuing the winning streak.
