Rear Admiral Nishantha De Silva retires from naval service
The Navy today (23rd December 2022) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Nishantha De Silva who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed over 36 years.
Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne, flanked by the Navy Board of Management, expressed best wishes to the retiring officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, the senior officer was accorded a Guard of Honour in compliance with naval traditions. Soon after, the fellow officers bade adieu to Rear Admiral Nishantha De Silva, who, a few minutes later, departed the Navy Headquarters amidst cheers.
Rear Admiral Nishantha De Silva joined the Sri Lanka Navy in the Logistics branch as an Officer Cadet of the 15th intake in 1986. He has held a range of logistics appointments during his illustrious career as a naval officer. Captain Logistics Department (Northwest, East and South), Deputy Director Naval (Pension), Commodore Superintendent Logistics Department (North), Director Naval Internal Audit, Director Naval Procurement and Service, Director Naval Foreign Procurement, Director Naval Victualing and Clothing, Director General Budget and Finance and Director General Logistics were some of the key appointments he has held.
