The Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Sahyadri’ which arrived at the Port of Colombo on 13th December 2022 on an official visit, departed the island on 16th December 2022. On her departure INS Sahyadri conducted a successful Passage Exercise with SLNS Parakramabahu.
Meanwhile, Commanding Officer of INS Sahyadri called on Commander Western Naval Area at the Western Naval Command Headquarters on 13th December 2022. During their stay on the island, the crew of INS Sahyadri took part in several programmes, including a training module held at the Rapid Action Boat Squadron Headquarters in Gangewadiya. The motive of these engagements were to strengthen partnership ties and camaraderie between the two Navies.
Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in compliance with naval traditions. The Passage Exercise, conducted in seas off Colombo, also featured Flag Exercise, Space Keeping by Distance Line (SKBDL), Cross Boarding and Maneuvering Exercises.
Naval exercises of this nature help develop interoperability and cooperation with like-minded partners, and would strengthen each other’s potentials when overcoming common maritime challenges collectively.
