Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association pins poppy flower on Commander of the Navy recollecting memories of fallen war heroes at the Naval Headquarters
Precursor to the upcoming poppy flower campaign launched to commemorate fallen war heroes, the Vice President of Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Rear Admiral(Rtd) SR Samarathunga pinned a poppy flower on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (19th October 2022).
The poppy flower campaign was originally adopted to commemorate those war veterans who perished during World War I and II. Sri Lanka too joined hands with this cause, commemorating her brave sons who made the supreme sacrifice during 30 years of war in the country. Marking this year’s Poppy Day celebrations, the Vice President of Ex-Servicemen’s Association pinned a poppy flower on the Commander of the Navy today.
A group of members of the Ex-Servicemen’s association were also present on this occasion.
