Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara assumes duties as Commandant Volunteer Naval Force

Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara assumed duties as Commandant Volunteer Naval Force at the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Headquarters in Welisara today (11th July 2022).

Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara was received at the VNF Headquarters according a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval tradition. Thereupon, his predecessor Rear Admiral Anura Tennakoon officially handed over the duties of the appointment to the incoming Commandant. In addition to the appointment of Commandant VNF, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara also holds the office as Commander Western Naval Area.

Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Anura Tennakoon was also accorded a Guard of Honour in precision with naval tradition after he was congratulated by officers and sailors of the Volunteer Naval Force, before his departure.
