His Excellency the President presides National War Heroes’ Day commemoration at National War Heroes’ Monument, Battaramulla

The Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (19th May 2022) presided over the National War Heroes’ Day Commemoration 2022 held at the National War Heroes’ Monument in Battaramulla. The ceremony held in a dignified sequence was attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

The solemn event, organized by the Rana Viru Seva Authority (RVSA), was attended by Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Inspector General of Police, CD Wickramarathna, Director General Civil Security Department, Major General Ranjan Lamahewage (Retd), Chairman, Ranaviru Seva Authority Major General Nandana Senadeera (Retd) and personnel from tri-services, Police, Civil Security Department and Rana Viru Seva Authority.

His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa paid floral tribute to the National War Heroes’ Monument commemorating all patriotic war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice and those went missing in action, to usher freedom to the nation by eradicating terrorism once and for all. Next, the gesture was reciprocated by Defence Secretary and tri-service commanders, placing floral wreaths at the National War Heroes’ Monument.
