Commander of the Navy hails dependent naval war heroes on Victory Day
In view of the Victory Day anniversary, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne visited the Anchorage Naval Care Centre in Welisara and idolised the naval war heroes in rehabilitation there. Commander of the Navy was accompanied by the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Chandima Ulugetenne during this visit.
In its fight against terrorism, 1160 Navy war veterans have made the supreme sacrifice and 517 naval personnel have been disabled to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland.
Having found time in his schedule to join the naval personnel of Anchorage Naval Care Centre, Commander of the Navy inquired into the wellbeing of them and gave them encouragement. Thereupon, Commander of the Navy together with the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit presented gift packs, made available by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, to those Navy war veterans.
Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Western Naval Area, a group of senior officers and executive committee members of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit were also present on this occasion.
