Navy introduces smartphone health application useful to naval personnel
Sri Lanka Navy introduced a new smartphone health application on 15th March 2022, as part of the series of health education programmes being implemented for healthy lifestyle of naval personnel.
The new application - Healthy Navy 2022 was introduced under the able guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, as an extension to the Health and Nutrition Policy of the Sri Lanka Navy. The user-friendly application has been developed in such a way making instruction and activities available at the fingertip,to maintain optimum Body Mass Index (BMI).
Based on the health application one could make decisions as to what quantity of calorie to be obtained in a single day and take necessary steps to burn excessive calorie. The calorie content of various food items indicated in this application has been obtained from the ‘Sri Lankan Food Composition Table’ issued by the Ministry of Health.
The new application is compatible with smartphone devices supporting operating systems above Android 8.0 and the Navy is determined to roll out future updates to the application for the use of naval personnel.
