Navy hands over computer laboratory of Howpe Maha Vidyalaya after renovation
The opening of the computer laboratory of Howpe Maha Vidyalaya, renovated by Sri Lanka Navy, was held with the attendance of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Prasanna Hewage on 20th December 2021.
Sri Lanka Navy has often been contributing with its time and labour to create more encouraging setting for the education of children of the nation. As an extension of this worthy cause, the Southern Naval Command made available its industrial expertise and manpower to renovate the computer laboratory of Howpe Maha Vidyalaya. The financial sponsorship for this magnanimous effort was made by Dr. Kishani Udugampala in United States, realizing the hardships faced by school children when learning computer science. The opening of the facility was held under the patronage of Dr. Kishani Udugampala and Commander Southern Naval Area at the school on 20th December.
The simple ceremony was held adhering to COVID-19 protocols and the event was attended by the Principal of Howpe Maha Vidyalaya, Mr. Aravinda Dias Nagahawatta, teaching staff, senior officers of the Southern Naval Command and a group of students and their parents.
