Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage retires from naval service
On completion of distinguished career spanning over 34 years in Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage retired from naval service today (28th October 2021).
The retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today received warm wishes from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and Board of Management before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. Subsequently, fellow naval officers bade adieu to the outgoing senior officer who was sent off in a motorcade through the portals of Navy Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage joined Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 05th intake of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in 1987. Apart from commanding various ships and establishments in the Sri Lanka Navy, he has held key assignments such as; Director Naval Inspectorate, Director Naval Victualing and Clothing, Director Integrated Logistics Management Cell, Commandant SLNS Vidura, Naval Officer in Charge Trincomalee South, Director Sports, Deputy Area Commander North Central Naval Area and Commander Southeastern Naval Command, during his illustrious career.
