Flag Officer Commanding - in – Chief Southern Naval Command Indian Navy meets with Commander of the Navy
The Flag Officer Commanding - in – Chief Southern Naval Command Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka met with Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (25th October 2021).
Six (06) training ships of the 01st Training Squadron of the Indian Navy arrived in Sri Lanka for a bilateral naval exercise on 24th October and Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla’s 04 day official visit to the island also coincided with the above event.
The visiting Flag Officer Commanding - in – Chief Southern Naval Command Indian Navy was received at the Navy Headquarters according a special Guard of Honour. Subsequently, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne warmly welcomed him to the Navy Headquarters.
During the cordial meeting that ensued, Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla and Nishantha Ulugetenne discussed several matters important to the navies of both countries reminiscing the long-standing relationship between India and Sri Lanka. The cordial discussion drew to a close with an exchange of mementoes to mark the goodwill and camaraderie.
Having posed for a group photograph with the Commander of the Navy and the Board of Management, Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla left his remarks in the Visitor’s Book at the office of Commander of the Navy and took leave from the Navy Headquarters.
As part of this official visit, he is expected to meet the Foreign Secretary, Commander of the Air Force, Commanders of Eastern and Southern Naval Areas as well. Further, Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla will attend several programmes at the National Defence College and Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. He is scheduled to leave the island on 28th October, on completion of the four-day official visit.
