Certificate awarding of boarding courses held at Special Boat Squadron HQ in Trincomalee
The certificate awarding ceremony of Counter Narcotics Boarding Officer Course and Advanced Boarding Officer Course was held at the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters in Trincomalee on 22nd September 2021. The event was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sanjeewa Dias, as the Chief Guest.
Twenty one (21) participants from Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, 4th Fast Attack Flotilla, Sri Lanka Coast Guard and Special Boat Squadron took part in the programme which rolled out from 30th August to 22nd September 2021. This training programme was conducted by a Mobile Training Team of United States Coast Guard at the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters.
The objective of the Counter Narcotics Boarding Officer Course was to impart trainees a comprehensive knowledge on counter narcotics, boarding procedure and law enforcement in respective waters, use of force and defensive technique. Simultaneously, the key focus of the Advanced Boarding Officer Course was to train naval personnel on practical oriented subjects such as room clearing, report writing, judgemental training, isolation drill and sea space accountability.
The events has been organized adhering to COVID-19 protocols to prevent the pandemic spread and it was also attended by Commanding Officer 4th Fast Attack Flotilla, Captain Rajapriya Serasinghe, Commanding Officer Special Boat Squadron, Captain Nissanka Wickramasinghe, official of the U.S. Embassy and a limited group of naval personnel.
