Navy continues COVID-19 vaccination efforts
Supporting the COVID-19 vaccination programme carried out by the Armed Forces focusing on the general public to control the transmission of the pandemic, Sri Lanka Navy is continuing inoculation drives to administer Sinopharm vaccine at the Lighthouse premises on Chaithya Road Colombo, Elapitiwela Chandrawansha Vidyalaya in Welisara and St Mary's Vidyalaya, Uswetakeiyawa today as well (10th August 2021).
Accelerating the vaccination programme set about by the Government to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Navy Headquarters Hospital embarked on the initiative on 08th August for the second time at Colombo Lighthouse premises. Apart from the COVID-19 vaccination centre on Chaithya Road, the Navy manned 02 more vaccination centres at Elapitiwela Chandrawansha Vidyalaya in Welisara and St Mary's Vidyalaya, Uswetakeiyawa commencing from 09th August 2021.
As such, the Navy medics administered first and second doses of Sinopharm jabs to 13822 individuals of over 30 years, in the past two days alone. Meanwhile, the vaccination efforts by the Navy continues to roll out today (10th August) at the above centres.
The inoculation proceedings at vaccination centres have been arranged in compliance with COVID-19 protocols in force due to pandemic concerns and the people are keen to receive their COVID-19 jabs. Meanwhile, the Navy stands ready to drive the vaccination programme at the Lighthouse premises on Chaithya Road tomorrow (11th August) as well.
