As yet another social responsibility initiative of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), 03 High Dependency Unit / Intensive Care Unit (HDU / ICU) beds were provided for the use of Special Maternity Unit of the Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa. The generous deed was held under the patronage of the NSVU President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Light House Galley on 12th May 2021.

NSVU provides ICU beds to Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa

As yet another social responsibility initiative of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), 03 High Dependency Unit / Intensive Care Unit (HDU / ICU) beds were provided for the use of Special Maternity Unit of the Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa. The generous deed was held under the patronage of the NSVU President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Light House Galley on 12th May 2021.

These beds, made available by NSVU funds, were handed over to Dr. Priyantha Karunaratne, Director Colombo East Base Hospital, for the benefit of mothers receiving treatment for COVID-19 at the Special Maternity Unit at the Mulleriyawa hospital. Dr. Kanchana Jayathilake from Colombo East Base Hospital, Executive Committee Member of NSVU, Mrs. Ayoni Wevita and a limited group of individuals including senior naval officers were present on this occasion.

In addition, the Navy has put up 09 floors of the 12-storied Cardiac & Critical Care Complex at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH), Colombo with the financial assistance of the Ministry of Health, in support of the government’s initiative to expand facilities in health sector. Naval Civil Engineers are working in full swing to complete the construction of this special cardiac treatment complex, dedicated for children under treatment.
