This RO unit designed and installed by Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project goes down in records as the first of its kind produced for naval fleet units.

Navy produces first-ever seawater RO plant for fleet units

Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Senarath Wijesooriya declared open a seawater RO plant onboard Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Jayasagara today (24th February 2021). This RO unit designed and installed by Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project goes down in records as the first of its kind produced for naval fleet units.

With a view to facilitate naval fleet units with RO plants capable of purifying the seawater into safe drinking water, this navy-made facility was introduced for the first-time making use of the expertise and technology of the Navy. Further, the facility is capable of purifying 10,000 litres of seawater per day.

The occasion was also attended by Deputy Area Commander, Heads of Departments, senior officers and a group of naval personnel from the Northern Naval Command.
