Sri Lanka Navy today (18th February 2021) facilitated another 130 senior sailors with Rs. 500,000 each and 20 sailors in Leading rate with Rs. 200,000 each, as interest free loans. Incidentally, the total sum of money distributed among this group of naval personnel is amounting to Rs. 69 million in total. The occasion to hand over cheques to the beneficiaries was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters.

130 senior sailors and 20 junior sailors receive interest-free loans

Sri Lanka Navy today (18th February 2021) facilitated another 130 senior sailors with Rs. 500,000 each and 20 sailors in Leading rate with Rs. 200,000 each, as interest free loans. Incidentally, the total sum of money distributed among this group of naval personnel is amounting to Rs. 69 million in total. The occasion to hand over cheques to the beneficiaries was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters.

This loan scheme was first mooted by Navy through Naval Benefit Foundation to recognize the contributions of long serving senior sailors and 3524 senior ratings have been grated the loan facility till date. After introducing this zero-interest loan to junior sailors in September 2020, one hundred and ten (110) junior ratings have benefited financially from this welfare move. As such, the Navy is determined to grant this financial support to yet another 1998 senior sailors and 19 junior sailors in time to come.
