Southeastern Naval Command provides supplies for school children in the area
A programme to provide school supplies for several schools in Ampara got off ground under the auspices of Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage.
With the outbreak of COVID 19 pandemic situation in the country, Sri Lanka Navy has launched numerous social welfare initiatives in order to uplift the life style of affected community across the island. As a part of that, Southeastern Naval Command in collaboration with several philanthropists, organized a donation campaign of books and other essentials such as school bags and library books for children of Viharamahadevi Primary School, Parana Govipala Vidyalaya and Hullannuge Vidyalaya at Lahugala, to be used at the beginning of the new school term 2021.
These donations were co-sponsored by Dr. Bhagya Weerawardhana, members of her family and friends as well as Mr. Ishan Fernando and Rotary Capital City of Colombo.
Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Principals and teachers of the respective schools and a cross section of officers and sailors were also took part in these events.
