‘Men in Whites’ provide special apparel for differently abled Navy war veterans
An organization named ‘Men in Whites’, comprising ex-Navy officers provided t-shirts, made of yarn produced by recycled plastic, to differently abled Navy war veterans, during a simple ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters on 31st December 2020. Accordingly, the special apparel was symbolically handed over to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by Commander (Retd) Hiran Zoyza and and Lieutenant (Retd) Ayesh Indranath Ranawaka, representing ‘Men in Whites.
The Navy routinely cleans coastal areas to collect and recycle plastic waste with a view to prevent ocean pollution caused by plastic waste that accumulates along the coastal belt. Incidentally, these t-shirts had been made using special yarn produced by plastic collected from the ocean, mainly by Sri Lanka Navy. Further, this great endeavour focusing on differently abled war veterans has been cosponsored by ‘Men in Whites’ and Neat Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Appreciating this admirable gesture of the ex-Navy officers of ‘Men in Whites’, Commander of the Navy handed over mementoes, to mark this significant occasion.
