Rear Admiral Vijitha Meddegoda retires from naval service
Upon completion of his naval career spanning over 34 years, Rear Admiral Vijitha Meddegoda retired from the Sri Lanka Navy today (04th December 2020).
The retiring naval officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today received warm wishes from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne flanked by Director Generals, before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. Thereupon, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the outgoing senior officer appreciative of his service rendered to the organization and he was sent off in a motorcade from the portals of Navy Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Vijitha Meddegoda joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1986 and performed duties in various capacities during his naval career. Among key appointments held by the senior officer, Deputy Director Logistics, Director Naval (Foreign Procurement), Director Integrated Logistics Management System, Director Naval Budget, Naval Secretary, Commodore Superintendent of Logistics, Director Naval (Pay & Pension), Director Naval Logistics and Director General Budget and Finance stood prominent.
