New wardroom at SLN Marine Headquarters declared open
The newly constructed wardroom at the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Marine Headquarters at Sri Lanka Navy Ship (SLNS) Vidura in Sampoor - Trincomalee South, was declared open by Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, today (12th October 2020).
The construction of this two storeyed building commenced in 2018 to expand accommodation facilities for officers attached to SLNS Vidura as well as Marine Headquarters and the construction work was undertaken by the Civil Engineering Department of Eastern Naval Command. Speaking on the occasion, Commander of the Navy expressed his appreciation for completing the project in short span of time. To mark the significance of this visit, Commander of the Navy also planted a coconut sapling at the premises, before he was presented a memento by the Training Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Marines.
Commander Eastern Naval Area, Director General Logistics and a group of officers and sailors attached to SLNS Vidura and Marine Headquarters were present on the occasion.
