SLNS ‘Mahaweli’ celebrates its 13th anniversary

Sri Lanka Navy Ship (SLNS) ‘Mahaweli’ in the Eastern Naval Command proudly celebrated its 13th anniversary which fell on 01st October 2020.

The Commanding Officer and ship’s company of SLNS ‘Mahaweli’ had organized a sequence of celebratory events giving prominence to time-honoured naval traditions and religious practices. Accordingly, the Commanding Officer inspected divisions and addressed the ship’s company on the sidelines of the rest of the celebratory events. Further, the customary meal partaking known as ‘Barakana’ was also held with the participation of officers and sailors of the establishment.

As part of the religious segments of the event, an all-night Pirith Chanting ceremony and an alms giving were also organized to receive the blessings.
