Poppy Flower pinned on Commander of the Navy
In concurrent with the Poppy project organized by the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association to coincide with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations-2020 which falls on 08th November, a poppy flower was pinned on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by the President of Sri Lanka Naval Association Admiral (Rtd) Daya Sandagiri and the President of Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association Major General (Rtd) Upul Perera at the Navy Headquarters, today (29th September 2020).
With its original adoption to honour the war heroes who sacrificed their lives in war, the poppy celebration is held in remembrance of the sacrifices made by the valiant military personnel in the defence of the motherland, with due gratitude and the proceeds from poppy sales are channeled for the welfare of Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association and their dependents as a tribute.
President of Naval Association, President of Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association, President of Armed Forces Remembrance Committee and members of these associations were also present on this occasion
