Tree plantation programme kicked off on Kayts Island

Becoming more resolute in enhancing the density of green ecosystem, the Northern Naval Command joined a tree plantation campaign organized by the District Judge of Kayts in Allappiddi, Kayts on 05th September 2020.

This tree plantation campaign was organized as part of a series of environmental programmes conducted with the participation of government agencies in the Jaffna Peninsula with the aim of creating a clean and green environment in the Northern Province. The event witnessed 1000 ‘Kumbuk’ and ‘Karanda’ saplings being planted in the Allappiddy area and it was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Northern Naval Area, officers, sailors as well as army and police personnel from the area.
