Navy gets Jaffna school students aboard for cruise

Offering a rare opportunity, the Navy got 161 Advanced Level students in Jaffna Peninsula aboard a Navy ship for a cruise in northern waters on 30th August 2020.

The cruise had been organized aboard a fully-fledged whale watching passenger craft (A 543) and it was also joined by a group of teachers and parents of the students. The touring students were acquainted with the marine ecosystem and they were also made aware of the destruction caused to the marine environment by prohibited fishing methods.

All the tour arrangements had been organized following meticulous security arrangements, for the safety of the children. Apart from this special occasion turned out to be a refreshing experience for the students, it also gave them an insight into the marine resources of Sri Lankan territory and the significance of conserving those resources.
