Rear Admiral Fred Senaviratne today (25th August 2020) retired from naval service, upon completion of his distinguished career spanning over 33 years in the Navy.

The outgoing senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today (25th August) received warm wishes from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and Director Generals before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. Thereupon, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer who was subsequently sent off amidst the cheers of senior and junior sailors wishing him fair winds and following seas.

Rear Admiral Senaviratne joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1987 and rendered a prominent service to the organization. He has also held key appointments such as Director Naval Land Operations as well as Commandant Naval Infantry during his illustrious naval career.
