SLNS ‘Parakramabahu’ proudly celebrates her 01st anniversary

SLNS ‘Parakramabahu’, one of the Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) of the Sri Lanka Navy, proudly marked her 01st anniversary on 22nd August 2020.

The ship P 625, after having found her new destination in the SLN fleet on 05th June 2019, was commissioned as SLNS ‘Parakramabahu’ on a ceremonial note on 22nd August in the same year. The OPV while augmenting the surveillance potential of SL Navy in turning away the illegal activities in island’s territorial waters continues to play a key role to help distressed naval and fishing communities in Sri Lanka’s Search and Rescue Region.

To mark the first anniversary of SLNS ‘Parakramabahu’, Commanding Officer of the ship inspected divisions held at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee, upholding the rich naval traditions. Meanwhile, the sequence of events related to the anniversary celebrations called it quits following the customary meal partaking (Mangala Bhojana) held onboard with the participation of the ship’s crew.

All these events had been carried out in accordance with supplemental guidelines declared by health authorities for the prevention and control of COVID-19.
