Commander of the Navy pays homage to Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy
Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, after assuming office as Commander of the Navy, paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy on 22nd July 2020.
The Navy Chief also met the Diyawadana Nilame, Mr. Pradeep Nilanga Dela and shared a light moment with him before placing his signature in the visitors’ book and presenting a special memento to the Chief Custodian of Sri Dalada Maligawa.
They also exchanged views on the proceedings of the forthcoming Annual Perahera Festival and the contribution of the Navy for the successful conduct of the Perahera Festival in the face of prevailing COVID - 19 pandemic.
Thereafter, the Navy Commander paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of the Tooth in view of receiving the blessings for future endeavours of the Navy. The occasion was also attended by the beloved wife of Commander of the Navy and President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne.
Further, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne also paid a visit to the Sri Vidyasagara Maha Piriwena of Hurikaduwa in Menikhinna to call on the Maha Nayaka of Ramanna Nikaya, Most Ven. Napana Sri Pemasiri Thera, before visiting the Ven. Keppetiyagoda Sirivimala Nayaka Thera of historic Getambe Rajamaha Viharaya to receive their blessings.
