Commander of the Navy visits Mahanayake of Asgiriya Chapter
Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, after assuming office as Commander of the Navy, visited the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya in Kandy and called on the Mahanayake of Asgiriya Chapter to receive the blessings on 22nd July 2020. The visit was also joined by Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne, the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.
Invoking the blessings upon Commander of the Navy, the Mahanayake of Asgiriya Maha Vihara Chapter, Most Venerable 'Rajakeeya Panditha’ Warakagoda Dhammasiddi Sri Pannananda Thera opined that the Navy has all the strength to execute its bounden duty for the defence of the island nation. Having praised the noteworthy contribution of the Sri Lanka Navy which continues to keep a tight rein on smuggling of drugs, the Mahanayake Thera bestowed blessings on the Navy to further strengthen the efforts of the government to protect the youth from the scourge of narcotics.
Thereupon, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne called on Anunayake of Asgiriya Maha Vihara Chapter, Most Ven. Vendaruwe Upali Thera. Speaking on this occasion, the Anunayake expressed his gratitude to the Navy for undertaking construction work of historic buildings belonging to Gedige Viharaya in Asgiriya and turning Navy’s hand to continue development work of the site with able manpower of the Navy.
