752th Ro Plant established by Navy declared open for community use
The 752th Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant established by the Navy at Kekuluwela village in Dimbulagala, was declared open for the use of people on 13th July 2020.
Accordingly, this RO plant system was installed making use of the Navy’s manpower and funds of the Ministry of Heath, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, in a bid to quench the drinking water requirement of the people in the area around Kekuluwela village. The RO plant was declared open by Naval Officer In Charge-Trincomalee South Commodore Prasad Kariapperuma and the event was attended by Mahaweli Block Manager-Weheragala, the Chief Incumbent of Kekuluwela temple, GS of the area, naval personnel and the residents of the area. This new Ro plant is capable of providing pure drinking water for about 1575 residents of Kekuluwela, Maldeniya and Kanichchigala villages.
As a partner of the national programme on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease, SL Navy is determined to install more RO plants to provide pure drinking water for the people.
