Navy seizes unauthorized fishing nets casted in the sea

During a patrol conducted in the seas off Poduwakattu area on 09^th July 2020, the Navy managed to find 01 unauthorized net being cast in the sea.

The Navy regularly conducts operations to avert the illegal fishing activities in the waters around Sri Lanka. As an extension of these operations, the Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command managed to seize 01 unauthorized net which had been casted in the seas off Poduwakattu for illegal fishing.

The unauthorized net detained by the Navy was handed over to the Fisheries Inspector-Kuchchaweli for onward action.
