Navy recovers unauthorized fishing net at Wannimundalama lagoon, Kalpitiya

The Navy held an unauthorized net, during a patrol conducted at Wannimundalama lagoon area in Kalpitiya on 08^th July 2020.

The Navy regularly conducts operations to safeguard the fisheries and marine resources in waters around Sri Lanka. During a similar operation, the Naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command managed to seize this 510m long unauthorized net which had been casted for illegal fishing.

The unauthorized net detained by the Navy was handed over to the office of the Fisheries Inspector-Kalpitiya for onward investigation.
