Navy starts disinfection of school and educational institution premises

Sri Lanka Navy conducted 02 disinfection programmes at the Mayurapada Central College in Narammala, Kurunegala and College of Technology in Maradana on 05^th July 2020.

In accordance with the guidance of the health authorities, the government gave the green light to re-open schools and educational institutions that were closed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is in this backdrop the Navy commenced disinfection of such places before their reopening. Going by this initiative, the Navy conducted these two sterilization programmes at the Mayurapada Central College in Narammala and College of Technology in Maradana. The sterilization efforts were carried out by the Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Units (CBRN) attached to the Western and Northwestern Naval Commands, covering all classrooms and other places where students often gather in numbers.

Meanwhile, the Navy is prepared to conduct further sterilization programmes in populous places for the safety of the children of schools and other educational institutions, until the COVID-19 situation ceases to exist,
