Navy finds assortment of explosive items in Chalai

The Navy managed to find an assortment of explosive items during a special search operation conducted in the Chalai area, Jaffna on 04^th July 2020.

After a tip-off received by the Northern Naval Command, a group of naval personnel attached to the command commenced this special operation in Chalai area. Accordingly, they managed to recover a 120 mm mortar, an 81 mm mortar, a 60 mm mortar, 03 RPGs, 05 hand grenades and a booby trap believed to be used by the LTTE.

It is believed that these explosive items might have been used during the humanitarian operation. The Police STF-Mullaitive was informed about the recovered explosive items which have been kept in the same location until court order to be received to carry out onward investigation.
