Navy assists to apprehend four suspects with illegal drugs

The Navy managed to apprehend 04 suspects possessed illegal drugs, during two separate search operations conducted in Middeniya and Unalla in Godagama on 25^th and 27^th June 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular anti-drug operations in view of keeping a tight rein on smuggling of drugs in the country. Accordingly, the Southern Naval Command, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police STF in Pattiyapola, apprehended a person for possession of about 200g of Kerala Cannabis, in Middeniya area on 27^th June 2020.

On 25th June , the Naval personnel of Southern Naval Command together with the Police STF in Kokmaduwa, nabbed another 03 suspects who possessed 1.5g of heroine, at Unalla area in Godagama.

The suspects who are 30 to 34 years of age, were identified as residents of Middeniya and Matara areas. Meanwhile, Middeniya and Matara Police are conducting further investigations into these incidents
