Navy assists apprehension of suspect with heroin

The Navy apprehended a suspect for possession of heroin, during a coordinated search conducted with Narcotic Bureau in Mannar on 24^th June 2020.

Even amidst the COVID -19 pandemic, the Navy continues its operations to foil smuggling of illegal drugs. During a similar operation, naval personnel attached to the North Central Command, in coordination with the Mannar Narcotic Bureau, conducted a search in the general area of Mannar and nabbed a person in possession of 600mg of heroin made ready to be sold.

The accused was identified as a 22 year old resident of Periyaporativu in Mannar. Meanwhile, the suspect along with heroin was handed over to the Mannar Police for onward investigation.
