Navy conducts dengue prevention programme at Galle harbour
The Navy, in view of curbing the looming threat of dengue in Sri Lanka, conducted a programme to clean mosquito breeding grounds at the Galle harbour on 22nd June 2020.
Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting a number of prevention programmes to control this mosquito-borne tropical disease and yet another event of that nature was conducted at the Galle harbour, with the participation of naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command.
Accordingly, the naval personnel engaged in this timely activity cleaned the harbour premises and removed and destroyed containers and places holding stagnant water. A large number of naval personnel of the Southern Naval Command took part in this initiative held under the patronage of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Navy is ready to conduct social responsibility initiatives of this nature in the future as well, for the betterment of the general public.
