Navy finds unauthorized fishing net in Vakarai

The Navy managed to find an unauthorized fishing net in Vakarai area on 22^nd July 2020.

The Navy has been conducting regular patrols to apprehend people who are engaging in illegal fishing activities with unauthorized fishing gear. Accordingly, a group of naval personnel of the Eastern Naval Command, during a foot patrol, managed to recover a 120m long unauthorized fishing net in the general area of Vakarai.

The seized fishing net was subsequently handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries – Batticaloa for onward action.
