Three (03) drug dealers taken into custody during naval operations

The Navy managed to apprehend 03 drug dealers, during two separate search operations conducted in Kinniya and Thambalagamuwa on 22^nd July 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular anti-drug operations in view of keeping a tight rein on smuggling of drugs in the country. Accordingly, the Eastern Naval Command, during a coordinated search conducted with the Kinniya Police, apprehended a person for possession of about 400mg of heroin, in the town area of Kinniya.

On the same day, the Navy, together with the Thambalagamuwa Police, nabbed another 02 suspect on a lorry while carrying 100g of Kerala cannabis to sell, in the general area of Thambalagamuwa.

The accused who are 31, 39 and 40 years of age, were identified as residents of Kinniya, Kanthale and Kalutara areas. Meanwhile, the Kinniya and Thambalagamuwa Police are conducting further investigations into these incidents.
