Two (02) drug dealers nabbed during naval operations
The Navy apprehended 02 drug dealers, during two separate search operations conducted in Talaimannar and Pesalai on 21st July 2020.
Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting regular anti-drug operations in view of keeping a tight rein on smuggling of drugs in the country. During a similar search operation, naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command, in coordination with the Talaimannar Police, managed to nab a person with 25.75g of chewing tobacco item (Mawa) in Talaimannar.
On the same day, a group of naval personnel belonging to the same command with the assistance of the Narcotic Unit – Mannar held another suspect in possession of 500mg of heroin, in the general area of Pesalai.
The accused who are 40 and 70 years of age, were identified as residents of Talaimannar and Pesalai. The Talaimannar and Pesalai Police stations are conducting further investigations into the incidents.
