Person with local cannabis held during coordinated operation

The Navy apprehended a person with 860g of local cannabis, during a coordinated operation conducted with the Police in Thanamalwila on 15^th June 2020.

The Navy has been conducting regular anti-drug operations island wide to wage its war on drug smuggling. During a similar operation conducted in coordination with the Police STF - Sooriyawewa, the Navy was able to apprehend the suspect in possession of 860g of local cannabis. Accordingly the 44 year old suspect who is a resident of the same locality was taken into custody.

The apprehended person along with local cannabis in his possession was handed over to the Thanamalwila Police for onward investigation.
