A haul of SMG ammunition recovered in Yan oya area

A haul of ammunitions used for machine guns (SMG) were recovered during a joint search operation conducted by Navy with Pulmudai Police and STF, at Weeravtivu area in Yan oya, on 04^th June 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy always contributes in the effort of suppressing the illegal activities. Accordingly, naval personnel of Eastern Naval Command recovered 714 Nos. of live SMG ammunition (7.62 × 39mm) which were packed inside a plastic bottle and abandoned in a marshy land at Weeravtivu area in Yan oya, during a search operation conducted in coordination with Pulmudai Police and STF.

Further investigation on recovered live ammunition is conducted by Pulmudai Police.
