Navy assists to apprehend person possessed tablets of illegal drug

A person with tablets of illegal drug was apprehended by Sri Lanka Navy during a joint operation conducted with Divisional Vice Squad-Trincomalee , at 03rd Mile Post area in Nithiyapuri, on 03^rd June 2020.

In order to protect seas around the island and to avert the illegal activities on the land, Sri Lanka Navy has been carrying out frequent operations. Such an operation was conducted by the naval personnel attached to Eastern Naval Command, in coordination with the Divisional Vice Squad-Trincomalee, at 03^rd Mile Post area in Nithiyapuri. During the search, a suspicious person was observed and by searching him 160 tablets of illegal drug (150mg) were found in his possession. Accordingly, the person with illegal drugs was apprehended.

The suspect is as a resident of the same area aged 21. He along with the tablets of illegal drug was handed over to Trincomalee Police for further investigation.
