Navy seizes unauthorized fishing nets casted in Batticaloa lagoon

The Navy managed to find 04 unauthorized nets being cast at Kotuwamada area, during a patrol conducted in Batticaloa lagoon on 02^nd June 2020.

The Navy regularly conducts operations to safeguard the fisheries and marine resources in waters around Sri Lanka. As an extension of these operations, the Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command managed to seize these 04 unauthorized nets of 150ft in length which had been casted at Kotuwamada area in Batticaloa lagoon for illegal fishing.

The unauthorized nets detained by the Navy handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Batticaloa for onward investigation.
