Suspect kept cannabis apprehend with assistance of Navy

A person with a haul of cannabis, was apprehend during an operation carried out by Navy in coordination with Police STF, at Hulannuge area in Ampara on 01^st June 2020.

While contributing in the campaigns to control pandemic over the country, SL Navy is continuing its operations to prevent illegal drug smuggling. Accordingly, such an operation was conducted by Navy in coordination with Police STF-Shasthraweli, at Hulannuge area in Ampara. While the operation, about 04kg of cannabis prepared for sale, was found and a suspicious person was also taken into custody along with cannabis.

The suspect is a resident of 14th mile post area in Hulannuge, aged 30. Recovered cannabis and the suspect were handed over to Pothuvil Police for onward investigation.
