Navy contributes in conservation of coastal environment
A beach clean-up drive of the Sri Lanka Navy, was successfully carried out in the Southern Naval Command on 30th May 2020.
Even under this pandemic situation, SL Navy engages in continuous programmes to clean the beach areas which are frequently littered by numerous ways. All healthcare guidelines issued by Ministry of Health, are strictly followed during these cleaning programmes. Accordingly, the Samudra beach area of Galle, Paraviwella beach in Tangalle, beach area around Naval Detachment-Hambanthota were cleaned by the participation of officers and sailors attached to the Southern Naval Command, under the supervision of its Area Commander, Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul.
In view of conserving the beaches polluted by the careless disposal of garbage to the sea, SL Navy carries out a number of eco friendly programmes of this nature and Navy is committed to protect coastal eco system.
