Navy-made another ‘Medi Mate’ handed over to Base Hospital – Theldeniya
Another remote-controlled smart appliance called ‘Medi Mate’ developed by Sri Lanka Navy for the safety of medical staff members dealing with COVID – 19 patents, was handed over to the Base Hospital of Theldeniya on 29th May 2020.
According to a basic concept mooted by an inventor, Mr. Thushara Kelum Wadasinghe, the Navy’s Research and Development Unit, going by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, developed this remote-controlled smart appliance called ‘Medi Mate’. The smart device handed over to the Base Hospital of Theldeniya was received by Director of Health Services for Central Province, Dr. Arjuna Thilakaratne
Including the most recent ‘Medi Mate”, the Navy has thus far handed over 05 units of this nature to hospitals. This smart appliance will help healthcare workers to diagnose ailments, communicate with patients and dispense medicine and meals to them, without getting closer to the infected people.
