Navy recovers haul of anti-personnel mines

The Navy, during a search carried out with the Police at Vedithalativu area in Mannar, recovered a haul of anti-personnel mines on 29^th May 2020.

Accordingly, during a joint search operation carried out by Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command with Adampan Police, 29 locally made anti personnel mines and 02 mortar fuse (60mm) were recovered near a recently cleaned abandoned well at Vedithalativu area in Mannar.

These locally made anti personnel mines and mortar fuses are suspected to be deserted during the humanitarian operations and the items were handed over to Adampan Police for further investigation.
