Navy renders assistance to a multi-day fishing trawler in distress
Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to escort a multi-day fishing trawler, Doni, which had gone for fishing with 07 fishermen aboard from the Galle fisheries harbour and distressed at sea due to a technical fault, today (29th May 2020).
On receipt of information about this fishing trawler which was out of control due to a technical fault, Navy promptly dispatched a Fast Attack Craft and an Inshore Patrol Craft to escort the distressed craft. Thereupon the defective fishing trawler with 07 fishermen aboard which was 7 nautical miles away from the shore was towed to the Galle harbour safely, in a strenuous task amidst the prevailing rough sea condition in these days. The successful operation was conducted under the supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul.
Sri Lanka Navy always attend for the assistance of fishing folk and other vessel distressed in Sri Lankan waters and to provide them with necessary facilities.
