Navy holds banned net found in a dinghy

SL Navy recovered a banned fishing net in a dinghy at Thuduwa beach in Kokilai, during a search carried out on 24^th May 2020.

In order to prevent illegal measures of fishing, SL Navy conducts constant patrols in the seas around the island and in coastal areas. Accordingly, a group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command, on foot patrol, had searched a suspicious dinghy at Thuduwa beach in Kokilai and found a banned fishing net. Afterwards, the dinghy, unauthorized fishing net and other fishing gear were apprehended by the Navy.

The recovered items were handed over to Pulmudai Police for onward investigation.
