Navy renders assistance to nab person with Kerala cannabis

The Navy apprehended a persons with Kerala cannabis, during a coordinated operation conducted with the Excise Office of Tangalle in the town area of Beliatta on 21^st May 2020.

Despite the prevailing situation in the country, the Sri Lanka Navy continues to be a major contributor to the national task of eliminating narcotics. Accordingly, naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command, in coordination with the Excise Office of Tangalle, conducted this operation in Beliatta area on 21^st May 2020. In this coordinated operation about 200g of Kerala cannabis had been found in possession of a suspicious person. Subsequently, the suspect along with cannabis was taken into custody.

The apprehended person was identified as a 27 year old resident of Beliatta. The Tangalle Excise Unit is conducting further investigation into the incident.
